Editorial Policy

This page describes how CyclingFreePress selects, produces, and reviews content. It is written to be unusually specific — readers and search engines alike should be able to verify exactly what the site is and is not.

Scope

CyclingFreePress covers professional road cycling: race results and reports, rider news, team and transfer news, and pro-level tech and gear, across the Grand Tours, the Monuments and Classics, and the wider WorldTour and ProSeries calendar. We do not cover amateur racing, general fitness or health topics, or sports outside professional cycling.

Source selection

The site monitors a curated set of sources in two groups:

  • Established cycling publishers, such as Cyclingnews, Escape Collective, Road.cc, Cycling Weekly, PEZ Cycling News, Inrng, and WielerFlits.
  • Topic-specific Google News queries for the riders, teams, and races that drive the sport — for example searches on the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España, the UCI, and leading riders and teams.

Sources are reviewed periodically. Publications that change focus, lower standards, or repeatedly publish misleading content are removed, and dead or broken feeds are dropped.

How aggregated items are produced

  1. A scheduled process polls the source feeds throughout the day.
  2. New items are filtered to recent, on-topic cycling stories, and duplicates of stories already posted are removed before anything else happens.
  3. The original headline is rewritten for clarity and translated into English where needed, using an automated language-model API. The rewrite is constrained to preserve rider and team names exactly as written — no invented first names, no “corrected” spellings, no new claims.
  4. A short factual summary (a “blurb”) is generated from that same headline. It is constrained to what the headline states: no invented results, finishing times, placings, quotes, or names.
  5. The item is published as a short post on CyclingFreePress that includes the summary and a clear link to the original publisher’s article.
  6. The original publisher always receives the click and the underlying reporting credit.

We disclose the use of an automated language model because transparency about production methods is, in our view, table stakes for an honest publisher.

Original posts

Where CyclingFreePress publishes original, byline-attributed writing, each such post carries a real byline and a “Sources” section with live outbound links to every underlying article. The aggregated feed described above is summary-and-link only; it is not presented as original reporting.

What we do not do

  • No paid placement. We do not accept payment, gifts, or other consideration in exchange for coverage, link placement, or favorable treatment.
  • No fabricated bylines. Any original post is attributed to a real person.
  • No passing off. Aggregated summaries are clearly summaries; the reporting belongs to, and is linked to, the original publisher.
  • No undisclosed affiliate content. If we ever publish content with affiliate links, it will be clearly disclosed at the top of the post.

Independence

CyclingFreePress is independently owned and operated. It is not affiliated with any publisher, cycling team, race organizer, bike or component manufacturer, or governing body.

Corrections

We treat factual accuracy as the most important thing the site can offer. See our Corrections Policy for how to report an error and how we handle it.
